Ativan (Lorazepam) is used to treat anxiety, also be used for seizures, alcohol withdrawal, prevention of nausea and vomiting due tochemotherapy, tension headache, and for sleeping trouble (insomnia). It has anxiolytic, sedative and hypnotic properties. Ativan is used to calm severe anxiety and related conditions, such as acute mania, excitement or agitation. Report any such reactions to your doctor immediately. When stopping extended, regular treatment with this drug, gradually reducing the dosage as directed will help prevent withdrawal reactions.
